Ryts, the innovative platform that is revolutionising the way our laws are accessed and understood. Our goal is to make complex legislation accessible to everyone, regardless of their background in law. Ryts provides a user-friendly interface that allows laypersons to effortlessly analyse legislation and receive clear, concise, and actionable insights.
At Ryts we look at the various categories of laws in our country. What do we mean by that? Consider the following;
Acts – an act is simply a law that has been promulgated i.e. it has gone through the processes of parliament, been approved and has been signed by the President of the country.
Regulations – in additions to acts, regulations provide the detail which is attached to an act. As an example take the Companies Act. The Act notes that certain companies must have a Social & Ethics Committee. The regulations give detail to what the criteria for these certain companies are’
Bills – these are proposed Acts that are still going through the parliamentary process. There is no guarantee that these bills will see the light of day. The Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Bill 2013 came very close to being promulgated but run out of time before parliament dissolved. It was never revisited in the next administration.
By-laws – municipal by-laws by their nature are local in nature as opposed to national, but just as important.
RYTS is run by Malcolm Larsen and Brad Duncan. Malcolm is a Quantity Survey by profession and runs the Business Engage Board MasterClass Series sessions on Reading Legislation. He has a long history of assisting individuals and communities on their rights with regards to various pieces of legislation.
Brad is the brains behind the AI aspect to Ryts. As the platform evolves Brad will amplify the AI component of Ryts to morph it into a platform of the future. It has to be noted however that this will take time. The AI has to be trained to provide the right responses. This can only happen once the manual interaction between Ryts and the community is well established manually.
